About Me

Get to know me: Dr. Carmen Teodor (PhD in Psychology), Director and Principal Clinical Psychologist at AMeliora Therapy

I am a compassionate, empathetic, and solution-oriented bilingual Clinical Psychologist proficient in English and Romanian. With nearly 20 years of clinical experience, including my practice since 2011 in Australia, I am dedicated to offering evidence-based and culturally sensitive psychological interventions to individuals, couples, and families. My expertise spans diverse client populations, both in one-on-one and group settings.

During my time in Australia, I served as a clinical supervisor and managed a therapeutic team at an NGO, providing counselling and family dispute resolution services. I also worked as a registered psychologist in a private psychology clinic.

I have a natural ability for creating connections effortlessly, fostering trust, and understanding individuals on a deep level. The beauty of each person’s story truly inspires me, and I am driven by the meaningful purpose of crafting personalized treatment plans. My goal is to provide therapeutic interventions that not only meet clients’ needs but also empower them to navigate challenging situations, proactively address issues, and reach their ambitious goals. Let’s embark on a collaborative journey where your unique narrative becomes the focal point of our work together.

I am committed to reflective practice and continuous self-improvement, and that is why I value feedback provided at the end of each session that would help me find the best way possible to support you.

On a personal note, I find joy in simple things like a hearty laugh or a conversation with a friend or family member. Life is worth celebrating at any given time, here and now, in the present, the only certainty we have. I understand the positive psychological change resulting from a struggle with traumatic or highly challenging life circumstances, having been confronted myself with a potentially life-threatening condition.

I love traveling, visiting family and friends overseas, and challenging myself by learning new things like foreign languages, playing guitar, or riding an enduro motorbike. I recharge by being outgoing and social but also value time alone with a good book. I strive for a better work-life balance, adopting a holistic approach to my health and well-being through a good diet, exercise, and spending time in nature.

My Approach

My innate ability to establish rapid rapport, cultivate trust, and connect with individuals on multiple levels underlines my approach. I consider each person’s unique story highly motivating and meaningful. This drives me to customize treatment plans and therapeutic interventions efficiently, ensuring they meet each client’s specific needs. My goal is to help clients navigate stressful situations, proactively address challenges, and attain their ambitious objectives.

On a personal note, I derive joy from life’s simple pleasures, whether it’s sharing a hearty laugh or engaging in a meaningful conversation with a friend or family member. I appreciate the significance of celebrating life in the present moment, savouring the experience of sipping fine wine from a crystal glass. It’s a reminder that life is worth cherishing, as the present is the only certainty we have.

My understanding of the positive psychological changes that can result from confronting traumatic or highly challenging life circumstances is rooted in my own experience. I faced a potentially life-threatening condition, which highlighted the transformative potential of such struggles and their capacity to foster personal growth.

I have a passion for exploration, whether it’s through traveling to connect with family and friends abroad or pushing my limits by immersing myself in new experiences. Learning foreign languages, playing the guitar, or embarking on adventures like riding an enduro motorbike are all ways I challenge myself and expand my horizons. I draw my energy from social interactions and the company of others, but I also appreciate the solitude of a quiet moment with a good book.

In my quest for balance, I strive for a healthier work-life equilibrium. I take a holistic approach to my health and well-being, focusing on maintaining a nutritious diet, engaging in regular exercise, and spending time in the natural world to rejuvenate my spirit.
